Blogging away!
I think the blogger was a very effective communication tool for the class. Usually for classes in Baruch people don't really communicate much, I for instance usually just talk to the people that sit around me and that's it. The blog however proves a new interesting way of communication means that provides extra value to the class. Not everyone is open and not everyone speaks up in class so this allows a way for everyone to share there thoughts and opinions. I feel this was very beneficial to meet others online because this might have helped in the group work for everyone to become more open because we all have a sense or sort of knowing each other through blogs. The blog was also effective for me to share perceptions of what we did in class. It made me think about what we did and how it relates to management. The professors questions were helpful because it let us take our minds off of management for a bit. The blog was also helpful because basically it was a easy 20% of the grade all I had to do were just to type my entries on time. Back I the my high school days I had a similar blog which was on a website called Xanga.com where post my thoughts about everything. Doing this blog brought me back to those days which were fun. As for continuing to do this...hmmm..maybe.

This blog was surely an effective communication tool for the ENTIRE class, like you said. Some, like me, have lots to say but fear saying it in front of everyone in person, and this blog gives them the chance to do so freely without anxiety. It was also a good networking tool too, as you said; we got the chance to talk/know more people in the class than we'd normally get to in a lecture class.
ReplyDeleteIt brought me back to my Xanga days, too!

ReplyDeleteI must agree that the college experience at Baruch can feel like a cold one. Many people stay to themselves or only speak to people who sit near them in class. Dont you think that if the rest of the school created a similar environment to this class, we would enjoy school more? The blog was only a tool used to express our perceptions and bring us closer together, but the energy we create in class is one that is very different from any other class I have been in. Either way, the use of blogs in class gets two thumbs up from me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement, most college students now a days seem to fall under their own world so unless necessary or unless they know you most people will tend to keep to themselves, but because of a assignment like blogger I believe most people have actually gotten a better sense of the people in their class and have a better idea of where their personality and management idea/styles are coming from.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Just like you, i always sit around my the few friends i have in the class, and through these blogs it creates a window into the minds of the other students. Even tho i might not know them, i learn their names through the blogs and its fun to go in the next day trying to identify which one of the student's blogs did i reply to. Also i rather do the blogs for the easy 20 percent instead of a test that i have to study my ass off for!
